Palazzo Blu
Andy Warhol, Salvador Dalì, Amedeo Modigliani, Toulouse-Lautrec: these are many high-level exhibitions organized each year by Palazzo Blu, the exclusive venue opened in 2008 by the Pisa Foundation to give new strength to the art and culture of the Tuscan city.
Palazzo Blu is instantly recognizable: it is a beautiful historic building located along the Arno river painted in blue. The interiors, restored and preserved, are spacious and modern, perfect to accommodate large-scale works.
Inside the Palazzo Blu in Pisa there are also a book shop, where you can buy the exhibition catalogs and other gadgets related to the art world, and a lovely cafe where, after visiting one of the exhibitions in the program, you can stop for a coffee, cappuccino or hot chocolate or even for an aperitif.
Beyond the exhibitions organized each year, it is worth visiting the permanent exhibition of Palazzo Blu, which includes prestigious antique furniture and artworks by local artists, like Nino Pisano, Orazio and Artemisia Gentileschi, Orazio Riminaldi, Tribolo. Noteworthy is also the underground plan (The Foundation) where the archaeological remains found during excavations and restoration of the building are on display.
